*What is Reiki? Reiki is a form of Japanese energy healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century that involves specific hand placements onto the clients body (fully clothed) that correlate with important sections of our nervous system. The word “Reiki” comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” meaning life energy, the energy that flows through all living things.
How does it work? Each one of us has an energy field with a measurable frequency. Reiki practitioners are trained to recognize subtle shifts in their client’s energy fields and calm areas of the nervous system, bringing balance to our bodies and our minds. By activating the parasympathetic nervous system during a session, our bodies can learn to "rest and digest" more efficiently and ultimately benefit our overall and long term health.
